Douglas Motorsport's George Proudford-Nalder was the driver to beat as pre-event testing for the inaugural GB4 Winter Series got underway at Snetterton on Thursday.
The multiple British F4 race winner topped three of the day's four sessions, with Elite's experienced GB4 contender John O'Donnell denying the Australian driver a testing clean-sweep by topping the second session.
Produford-Nalder proved quick in all conditions, setting the pace in a wet session one, before setting the best lap of the day with a 1m48.159s in session three, when the track was fully dry, before ending day one by topping a red flag-interrupted final session this afternoon.
In all, the top-seven drivers set their best times in the penultimate session of the day, with Proudford-Nalder enjoying an advantage of over a quarter of a second to podium-finishing teammate Conor Grant.
The Irishman was half a second ahead of O'Donnell, with the second Elite car of Jesse Phillips fourth, and just under four tenths of a second further back.
R Racing made its official GB4 debut, with Chase Fernandez fifth quickest and 0.067s ahead of the third Elite car of Harrison Mackie.
Ben Smith, who is not entered for this weekend, was seventh fastest in the lead Fortec Motorsports car, while reigning Ginetta Junior champion Lewis Goff set his best lap at the end of the day for KMR Sport, and was 0.087s behind.
An under the weather Jamie Leverton was ninth fastest for Nitrous Competitions ADM Racing, despite missing the first two sessions of the day, with William Rohan the lead Pace Performance runner, and completing the top-10.
Testing resumes at Snetterton tomorrow, with four more sessions and the first due to start at 09.35 BST.
